Uses of Rugs
Rugs are decorative textile coverings that cover part of the floor. However, they are practical too. They help to distinguish and separate different areas of a single room, thus utilizing the whole area efficiently. Rugs have an overall effect on the mood of the room. Therefore, choosing bright colors indeed have a positive effect on the people in the room. Rugs accentuate furniture efficiently. That is why they are known are focusing agents too. However, rugs themselves attract attention, and can be placed in any room of the house. The size of the rug should also be concentrated on. The first step would be imagining carefully whether a chosen rug would fit into the room as desired or not.
Similar contemplation is required to come to a decision as to whether to buy a large rug or several smaller ones. A large rug will be able to unite several items of furniture together into a single unit, several smaller rugs help break the room into sections and distinguish according to the owner’s preference. Colors and patterns also hold significance. Several rugs of similar patterns and colors will help them blend in with the room, whereas contrasted colors will divide the room, albeit colorfully. Furniture placed on rugs is used to demarcate different areas. Placing a table with few chairs on a rug will define a sitting area. In order to save space, it is important to avoid left out space behind furniture.
